In less than 72 hours I'll be toeing the line at the Superior Sawtooth 100 miler. This is my second go-round with this race, where I placed 3rd overall and 2nd Open last year in 26:58. Since then I've had a hell of a year with two wins at the 100 mile distance. I'd love it if that streak continued, but I really want to keep it in my head to take care of myself and let the race develop. I want to be in the mix, but I need to stay sharp and not get down if things don't come together for me. So here's my goals, with most important first:
1. Finish
2. Finish faster than last year
3. Get a sub 24 hour
4. Get a win
I hope #4 isn't taken as talking smack. I want to win (I'm not saying I'm going to), but I know there's few strong guys running namely John Horns, Jarrow, and Matt Aro. I know John and Matt, they are good guys and I've enjoyed trail time I've spent with them, and I understand Jarrow's a pretty cool guy too.
On the women's side, I would have set up my friend Sarah Jurgaitis as a top pick, but she'll have her work cut out for here with Sheryl Wheeler as a late entrant. It'll be fun watching that race develop. Sarah does have top notch crew/boyfriend working for her.
Best of luck to everyone, the weather looks great and whatever happens, we're going to have fun.
Great goals! See you up there.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure you are not afraid of my untrained body?
There will be some good brew at the finish..... but probably not out until many hours after you finish
Good Luck Adam!!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing who comes out on top this year, its going to be a great race.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm lucky in that I have less goals to worry about for this race, I don't think I'm asking to much for number two.
Goals:
1. Don't die
2. Finish
